My Response:
As a writer, the activity that we did was really helpful to me. I got responses that were all really constructive. They made me realize and know the true worth of my essay. I was both excited and nervous about having someone else read my writing because I like to keep my writing to myself. I was excited in a way because I also wanted to know the level or the quality of my own writing from others. To my surprise, they really did like my writing and I got great responses that would help me outline and conclude the essay.
Once in high school when we had to write our senior exit, I got a chance to review essays written by my peers. That experience wasn't as great as we did in the class on Friday because we did not really go through the whole process. The feedback that I received can help me to make a better peer responder in the future because I now know how one should write so that the individual could construct the essay in a proper way. I now know what sorts of things should I mention and what sorts should I not. I would say the most important thing a class can do to help one another is to respect each other's piece and thoughts. Everyone in the class can give positive and encouraging feed backs and make the reader realize how hard it is to come up with a piece.
I learned that everyone has different perspective on the type of the reading they are doing. For example, one proofreader might like one essay while the same essay can be disliked by another proofreader. Hence, I learned that thoughts and responses differ. I also learned that a writer and a reader have hard times to write and proofread because writing is not an easy task and proof reading is a hectic job. I also learned that writing becomes much easier when you actually write about your own experience and have your own opinions and words.
